Champs!!! Oceanside High School rugby took on San Clemente in a finals rematch from last year that saw our opponent go home with the trophy. This year was different though…fueled by brotherhood and a common goal, our young men did their job. Not without a huge battle though. San Clemente struck first off of a chip kick and fortunate bounce for them. From there both teams would trade scores with Oceanside finding the try zone twice off of box kicks from Deacon Maeva to the corner of the try zone. Fullback Kymani Nua would have a busy night covering kicks from end to end. The forward pack was dominant all night with devastating runs from Thomas Reynoso, Ean Glover, Kiki Fa’atili, Kesané Barrington and Patrick Knight. Defense also shone brightly with huge tackles by Nate Ragudo. This was the perfect ending to a great high school season. Incredible effort all season long from our guys. Final 29-24 and SoCal multi-school champs! Big thanks for the support all season from parents, family, and volunteers. And many of the JV players for filling the bench and supporting!
U12

After a season focused on development and finding their stride, our U12 Thunder squad entered the end-of-year tournament in the Novice Division — and delivered their strongest rugby of the year.
The day began with a 14–0 win over Empire in an early 7:45 a.m. kickoff. The highlight of the tournament followed in a hard-fought battle against the Mustangs. Thunder jumped out to a three-score lead, weathered a furious comeback, and held on for a gritty 33–26 victory — a game that truly showcased this team’s growth and resilience.
In the championship match against Back Bay, Thunder scored first but trailed at halftime after three unanswered tries. What followed was their best stretch of rugby all season. The kids battled back with three second-half scores and pushed the final to the brink before narrowly falling 27–25.
The result: Second Place — and a powerful statement about how far this young team has come.
This group found its identity late in the season — tough, united, and relentless — and the future is bright
U8

The U8 Thunder team had a fantastic and positive learning day at the End of Season Tournament at Temecula Galway Downs. Over the course of six hard-fought games, every player on the squad received meaningful playtime and valuable experience on the field. We are so proud of the teamwork and growth shown by all the athletes during this final stretch of the season. Thank you to all the families for your support throughout the year. Great work, team!
U14

U14 entered the End-of-Year Tournament placed in the Division 2 High Performance bracket alongside the top three teams: Thunder, Spartans, and Empire. Our Thunder boys and girls came prepared. They practiced hard, trained hard, and carried the momentum of an undefeated season. Nothing was going to stop this team. They showed up determined, disciplined, humble, and ready to put in the work. With Nathaniel Tavale leading as captain, he guided his team into battle with confidence and heart. As coaches, it’s nearly impossible to single out one top player — because this team truly plays as one. Spartans were no match for our dominant forwards winning all our scrums and were caught by surprise by our vicious counter-rucks.
Empire brought size and strength, but our defense shut them down. We stopped their pods, controlled the pick-and-go, and delivered big hits from every position. Empire looked stunned — especially from our youngest 12-year-olds and our vicious rugby girls made game-changing tackles.
What a way to close out the season — undefeated, united, and proud. Great coaches. Great players. And a U14 Thunder team that officially put themselves on the map.

U10

U10 Thunder had an exciting EOS tournament! We started off a little slow while figuring out our positions, but the team battled hard and won the first game. The second game didn’t go our way, and emotions were high but we regrouped, talked it through, and focused on the fundamentals.
Going into our final game, we knew it was our last game of the season, and we were determined to finish strong. The energy was high, the crowd was loud, and the team came out ready. They played with heart and determination - and we won the game finishing in 3rd place!
What a great season it’s been. From our first day of practice to the last game, this group has improved so much! We’re proud of every single player for their growth, effort, and teamwork. Thunder rugby continues to build something special!
