Club Schedule/News
Lots to share in today’s updates:
Boys have big games this weekend with all 3 teams in the SoCal playoffs. U18Premier plays away at San Juan Hill HS (OC) against Belmont Shore, but earlier in the morning the U18Gold will be playing Santa Monica at Estancia HS (OC). U16Premier boys playoff against Raptors at San Juan Hills as well.
Both 15 & 18 girls are up in Hawaiian Gardens for their tournament with hosts Hawaiian Gardens, RC Rebels, Temecula, and Dragons.
IMPORTANT - We need the U18 parents to stay after the game in San Juan Hills for a meeting on the travel to National Championships. Fundraising, logistics, etc. all need to discussed and we NEED parents involvement starting with the meeting.
Burpee-a-Thon
All of the U18 Boys that hope to travel have been given a pledge sheet for the Burpee-a-Thon. Please help them out as this is very time sensitive. We need $$$ to book airfare next week. Schedule for this event is to do the work (burpees) Monday night at the normal fitness session, then immediately collect on the pledges. Process is simple - stand in front of Von’s or similar (even a gym, etc.) and say “hey, we’re young athletes that qualified for national championships but need money to pay for travel expenses. Can you help us?” if they don’t want to provide email/phone, etc. that’s no problem, don’t make a pledge just donate at any of the 3 QR codes on the sheet. EACH PLAYER HOPING TO TRAVEL NEEDS TO RAISE A MINIMUM OF $250 BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK FOR AIRFARE PURCHASE. This should be achievable with 10 donors at $25 each (minimum) and earned with 50 burpees in 5 minutes and a pledge of $0.50/burpee.
Sip’n’Snack Raffle - Donations Needed!
HUGE thanks to the Barringtons (Vangie and Zack), supporting the plate sale and now taking the lead on this effort. Should be fun for the winner, as we’ll be holding a “send off” party before we depart for Indiana and raffling off a bunch of prizes (location/schedule to be confirmed soon)…but we need donations to make the raffle go! Vangie has set up the following sign up to get donations, but plan is to have a great wagon (donated by Barringtons) filled with wine, liquor, snacks, etc. and also some other donated swag, gift cards, and cash prizes for the raffle. To support we will launch an online portal for the actual raffle, in the meantime we need our Thunder community to solicit and provide donations to fill the wagon/raffle prizes! Link is here:

Zeffy and General “Ask”
As previously shared, we have a flyer (shown below) and website set up to take direct donations. This can be shared on social media, emailed, etc. Simple and easy request, donations go directly into our bank account ":) If people ask, it’s just like GoFundMe. but donors have the OPTION of adding additional funds that go to Zeffy but it is not required (we went with Zeffy as they don’t take a portion of the money automatically as GoFundMe does).
National Championships Gear
Thanks to Jill & Nick Ricono (Max’s parents) we’ll be organizing some shirts and other goodies for the traveling team, but will also be selling to family, parents, non-traveling players, other age groups, coaches, and anyone else that wants to support the team and show their Thunder colors with a “National Championships” qualifier on the apparel.
More details to follow, but orders will need to be placed next week. Pay attention to communication to follow, but we’ll expect to have a signup sheet for purchases at the parent meeting Saturday. We’ll need sizes and commitments shortly after!
